This dataset is a subset of the dataset of this described lineage showing routes which are now recorded on the Bradford area Definitive Map. The original dataset was derived from several digital datasets created in 2003-2004.These earlier datasets were captured from a set of acetate maps comprising a 1:2500 Ordnance Survey base map annotated with path lines, created 1993-1994. The 1:2500 maps served as a summary of Bradford paths up to that date. The 2003-2004 data was checked thoroughly, reorganised and brought up to date. There is no single source of information about paths in the former Bradford Borough area. Therefore a number of sources were used to check and update the data (where appropriate): 1. 1996-1998 Milestones complete path survey (detailed description of paths and large scale location maps). 2. 1:10,000 and 1:2,500 working maps (maps of Bradford paths located in the Rights of Way Section, used and updated continuously by officers and consulted by the public) 3. Legal Events (documents detailing legal changes to paths) 4. Path Files (record of correspondence for each path) 5. List of Streets and Highways Records (adoption status, path descriptions and maps) 6. Path List (informal directory of paths maintained by Rights of Way Officers) 7. Officer knowledge 8. Site visits 9. Historical OS maps 10. Aerial photographs
