Risk of Flooding from Rivers and Sea - Properties in Areas at Risk
This dataset provides an assessment of the risk of flooding from rivers and the sea (RoFRS) for areas at risk linked to the properties within that area in England. It includes Ordnance Survey reference enabling the data to be linked to AddressBase and/or the OS MasterMap Topography Layer. RoFRS outputs are generally not suitable for property level assessment and estimate flood risk to an area of land. The method used does not provide information relating to when the floodwater may be deep enough to start causing damage or disruption to homes, roads or other infrastructure. Alongside depth information, additional information on properties (including floor levels) would be required to say with any confidence whether flooding of a certain depth would enter into a property and cause damage. It can only provide an indication of the likelihood of flooding in the area of the property. Further information is required to determine the actual impact on a specific property. The latest versions of the Risk of Flooding Rivers and Sea (RoFRS) products and the National Receptors Dataset (NRD)* are used to create this product. We identify the flood likelihood category (RoFRS) allocated to the land that each property receptor (NRD) sits within. *The NRD is developed by the Environment Agency, however it is based on Ordnance Survey data (AddressBase Premium and OS MasterMap Topography Layer) and we do not have permission to release this as Open Data.
