A systematic review of common measurement methods of global soil protease activity between 1970-2020
The dataset contains global soil protease activities and common methodological parameters (i.e. fluorometric and colorimetric analysis) used to measure soil protease activity between 1970-2020. The dataset also includes key environmental parameters that affect protease activity i.e. soil type, soil pH, mean annual temperature, mean annual precipitation, soil organic carbon, and clay content. Data were collected from a systematic review of published articles that measured soil protease activity. Using a search term strategy, screening by title and abstract, and then assessing the full text for eligibility, we identified 680 studies to include in this collection. Mean soil protease activity data were exported using predetermined criteria. In addition, several environmental and methodological parameters were exported when stated in the study. The raw extracted data from the studies were split into two csv files provided here, colorimetric methods and fluorimetric methods.
