Lineage

The Section 3 Woodland map identifies woodland areas over two hectares which are predominantly broadleaved. The map was created by updating a woodland survey undertaken by the NPA in 1977 , using a combination of field visits, interpretation of aerial photographs and cross checks with habitat maps produced by the Nature Conservation Council (NCC). The original map was produced on paper at a scale of 1:25,000. The Section 3 Woodland map was adopted 06 June 1988. First published as part of a review of the National Park Plan in 1988. Republished in National Park Plan 1989 (Chapter 9). Republished in the Management Plan 2004 (Chapter 5). It was not published in the Partnership Plan 2010. The original 1:25,000 Section 3 Woodland map was digitised with some interpretation at a scale around 1:10,000 sometime around 2000. This data was not considered of a quality to PAI (Positional Accuracy Improvement).
