Homogenised catalogues of microseismicity and pumping data from the PNR-1z and PNR-2 injection wells
Microseismicity catalogues and fluid injection rate data recorded at the Preston New Road (Lancashire, UK) unconventional shale gas site during and after hydraulic fracturing of the PNR-1z and PNR-2 wells. Homogenised seismic catalogues include events recorded by the combined downhole and surface networks operated by the operator (Cuadrilla Resources Ltd.) and the British Geological Survey. Injection rate values are as initially reported by Cuadrilla Resources Ltd. The original datasets were provided by the UK Oil and Gas Authority (OGA).

. These datasets represent a list of microseismic events recorded during and after hydraulic fracturing of two wells (named ‘PNR-1z’ and ‘PNR-2’) at the Preston New Road (UK) unconventional shale gas development site. The microseismicity at PNR-1z was monitored by Cuadrilla Resources for the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) using a downhole array in the adjacent PNR-2 well consisting of 12 three-component geophones which was operated by Schlumberger Ltd., the geophysical processing contractor. The PNR-1z seismic catalogue also includes events recorded by broadband surface stations operated by the British Geological Survey (BGS). PNR-2 seismicity was recorded by a downhole array of 12 geophones in the adjacent PNR-1z well. The PNR-2 seismicity catalogue also includes events recorded by the combined surface network of the BGS and the operator. Along with the two microseismicity catalogues, the dataset reports the fluid injection rates at the two wells sampled at 1 second intervals. Stages for the compilation of the datasets: 1. Raw data comprising continuous recordings from downhole geophone arrays and surface seismometer networks. 2. Measurement of arrival times and amplitudes of seismic phases for individual events. 3. Calculation of locations (positions in space and time) and magnitudes for individual events. 4. Merging of results from downhole and surface arrays 5. Compilation events into a catalogue consisting of origin times, positions and magnitudes
