Natura 2000 management bodies
Management bodies for each Natura 2000 site (SAC and SPA). Special Areas of Conservation (SAC) are strictly protected sites designated under the EC Habitats Directive. Special Protection Areas (SPA) are classified under the EC Birds Directive. This dataset is derived from the UK wide data submitted to the EU Commmission as part of the Standard Data Form updating exercise on 22 December 2015 (Tranche 50) . It contains details for both SACs and SPAs - there is one row in the dataset for each combination of individual site and management body. The list of management bodies is as follows. Scottish Natural Heritage Natural Resources Wales Natural England Northern Ireland Environment Agency For offshore sites the following statement has been used "For information about relevant management bodies contact the Joint Nature Conservation Committee and see Section 4.5 for site management progress" This dataset relates to section 6.1 of the Standard Data form Note that prior to December 2015, these data had not been collated for any sites in the UK apart from Gibraltar.

The information provided here, follows the officially agreed site information format for Natura 2000 sites, as set out in the Official Journal of the European Union recording the Commission Implementing Decision of 11 July 2011 (2011/484/EU). Further technical documentation may be found here http://bd.eionet.europa.eu/activities/Natura_2000/reference_portal As part of the December 2015 submission, several sections of the UKâs previously published Standard Data Forms have been updated. For details of the approach taken by the UK in this submission please refer to the following document: http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/pdf/Natura2000_StandardDataForm_UKApproach_Dec2015.pdf Note that information on Threats, pressures and Activities (TPA) have been derived from information supplied by the Country Conservation Bodies for terrestrial/inshore sites and JNCC for the offshore sites. The temporal range of these data have been assumed to be for the calendar year 2015 - the year in which the collating organisations were actively compiling these TPA for each Natura 2000 site.
