Forest Priority Catchments 2016

The dataset comprises a number of river catchments based on Water Framework Directive water body boundaries which have been identified by NRW as areas within which forestry environmental improvement works will be prioritised to reduce the impact of forestry on the water environment.

The catchments were identified as a priority based upon their failure to achieve good or better status, the identification of forestry as a contributing reason for that failure and at least 30% of the area of the catchment being under closed canopy woodland cover. This data set was created using the Environment Agency (EA) Water Framework Directive (WFD) Priority Catchment Boundaries, published May 3 2012. The Forestry Commission Wales National Forest Inventory (NFI) forest cover types was also used. The NFI was unioned with the EA priority catchments, to gain the information in the ‘Raw Data’ worksheet tab. The Results were than analysed with pivot tables and are shown in the 'Results' tab.
