2019 The Marine Biological Association of the UK (MBA) Wembury Bioblitz Survey
Organised and run by the Marine Biological Association (MBA) in Plymouth, annual BioBlitz surveys take place in/around Plymouth (sites in Devon and Cornwall). The aim of this survey was to record as many species as possible as being present within a set survey area in Wembury, Devon (UK) over 24-hours. A variety of different methods were employed, including times-species searches, plankton netting, Seine-netting, Pond-dipping with nets, mammal trapping, walkovers, push-netting, grab/core, transect/quadrat, and including Dive and snorkel surveys, although most records were ad-hoc sightings made during the 24 hour survey. This was the 11th annual survey run by the MBA. All records were verified by experts and data team staff.

Organised and run by the Marine Biological Association (MBA) in Plymouth, annual BioBlitz surveys take place in/around Plymouth (sites in Devon and Cornwall). These surveys aim to record as many species as possible as being present within a set survey area over 24-hours. Data was collected by volunteers, taxonomic experts and professional scientists over two days (24 hours). Species were identified in the field and verified afterwards by taxonomic experts and scientists at the Marine Biological Association (MBA). The first record of each species found to be present within the survey area is was recorded, along with the verifier. Some surveys include counts/abundance information and extra information associated with the record. If any sensitive species or biotope records are present within this dataset, they will have been removed. If you wish to request access to sensitive species records, please contact the metadata contact. The UK Sensitive Species list has been agreed by UK statutory bodies and relevant experts. It can be viewed here https://docs.nbnatlas.org/sensitive-species-list/. Please note sensitive species lists can vary across the UK.
