Lineage

The coastal segments of the polygons have been derived from OS MasterMap topography polygons by selecting those polygons intersecting Mean High (MHW) and Mean Low (MLW) water polylines in MasterMap, merging these polygons to form a single polygon, converting this polygon to a polyline and then deleting those nodes not coincident with the MLW line (or MHW line when MLW is absent). The inland segments of the polygons were digitised to OS MasterMap data using MapInfo's node snapping and tracing functions, interpreting the 1:25,000 definitive maps, and text descriptions from the original National Park designation in 1953 and the boundary review in 1995
