Modelled recapture of ammonia by shelterbelt trees in the UK
This dataset contains modelled ammonia recapture by shelterbelts downwind of an ammonia source. The runs were located in the UK with ten years of averaged meteorological data for the different seasons of the year. Several tree species and tree heights were also taken into consideration and predictions of recapture were made for the year 5, 15, 25 and 50 after planting . Two models were coupled to obtain this dataset; Open-source Field Operation And Manipulation (OpenFOAM) and MOdel of Dispersion and Deposition of Ammonia over the Short-range in two dimensions (MODDAS-2D). This dataset was created by the Modelling Uncertainty for Decision Making on Ammonia mitigation with Trees in the landscape (MUDMAT) project funded by NERC. This dataset is the output of two models; OpenFOAM (Open-source Field Operation And Manipulation) and MODDAS-2D (MOdel of Dispersion and Deposition of Ammonia over the Short-range in two dimensions). Python 2.7 code was used to couple the output of OpenFOAM to the input of MODDAS-2D. The inputs are the Chess dataset (https://doi.org/10.5285/2ab15bf0-ad08-415c-ba64-831168be7293) for the meteorology, Forest Research Decision Support Tool (DSS tool) (http://www.forestdss.org.uk/geoforestdss/) for tree species height and tree Leaf area index (LAI) reviewed by experts. The input files were transformed with R code and the runs were made on the CEDA LOTUS-JASMIN cluster in parallel (https://jasmin.ac.uk/). The outputs were then processed and added to a database with two tables, one for Northern Ireland and another for Great Britain. Each row of the files in this dataset is a model run.
