1991 - 1991 Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) 1991 Eastern Irish Sea Groundfish Survey Catch Data - Silver Star Time Series

Abstract

A series of groundfish surveys were carried out from 1976 to 1991 in the eastern Irish Sea. Fishing took place using a Boris Goshawk trawl towed for an hour. This data is from the 1 survey carried out in 1991. Numbers at length by centimetre of the main commercial fish species are recorded. Station positions by area are recorded. A summary table is included containing catch data for all other species.

One cruise was carried out in 1991: - **Girl Irene 01/91 (4th June - 11th June) ** Work began on the 4th June with five days work being completed by the evening of 9th June, albeit in marginal conditions at times. On June 10th the spare trawl was rigged to replace the original net which was damaged on a fastener the previous day. Two stations were abandoned due to deteriorating weather conditions, one in Liverpool Bay and one in Conwy Bay. Additionally, 2 to 5 hauls were void due to catch losses.
