This dataset contains details pollution incidents reported to Natural Resources Wales (NRW). Only substantiated and closed environmental protection incidents are included. Where these data indicate an incident occurred on a particular site or property no inference should be drawn that the site or property owner necessarily was responsible.

Details of all pollution incidents reported to NRW are held on the Wales Incident Recording System (WIRS). Data was stored and collect from 2013-04-01 to 2016-02-29 in National Incident Recording System (NIRS) and from 2016-03-01 to present Wales Incident Recording System (WIRS). Where these data indicate an incident occurred on a particular site or property no inference should be drawn that the site or property owner necessarily was responsible. Incidents are categorised as follows: Category 1: High Major or Major Incident Category 2: High Minor or Significant Incident Category 3: Low or Minor Incident
