The Sea Angling 2012 project includes a number of different surveys running in parallel to provide a detailed overview of all forms of sea angling throughout England during 2012. Cefas led a detailed study of the economic value and social benefits of recreational sea angling. This work, carried out by an independent contractor, obtained regional and national information on expenditure by individual anglers, the economic value of activities dependent on sea angling such as tourism and tackle shops, and other statistics such as employment related to sea angling.
