Abstract

The Southern IFCA have been collecting a mixture of grab and dredge samples have as part of an annual survey in Poole Harbour since 2005. The data taken includes population density information and size frequency which informs the appropriate assessment for the Poole Harbour clam fishery each year.

Lineage

This survey takes grab samples using a van-veen grab from the same sites in Poole Harbour on an annual basis. Samples are sieved on site for presence of clam and cockle where population density is determined from counts and size measurments are taken along the widest axis and used to give size frequency data. This data is used to inform the Appropriate Assessment for the Southern IFCA Poole Harbour clam fishery on a annual basis.
