Species point records from 1978 Smith west Inverness-shire & north Argyll littoral survey
The area covered is from Loch Hourn to the Sound of Mull, and up to Loch Linne. Some of the work is patchy and qualitative, being done at an amateur basis. A few sites were surveyed in more detail. Descriptions of the distribution of littoral mollusca on rocky and sedimentary shores, plus data from inshore dredge trawls. Some notes on the impacts of tourism. Stations are described giving main features of habitats and communities, and species lists and photographs of sites are appended. In the discussion, Loch Sunart is considered disappointing, but several other sites were recommended for further investigation: the north side of Loch Nevis between Sandaig and Inverie Bay, Loch nan Ceall, Loch Ailort, Ardnamurchan Point, Camaschoirk, all Sound of Mull stations and Camas Chil-Mhalieu. Records currently considered sensitive have been removed from this dataset.
