Catchment boundaries for England and Wales based on existing Fish Health Inspectorate (FHI) catchments 2023 (WGS84)
This dataset contains the boundaries for river catchments in England and Wales based on the dataset `Hydrological sections for England, Scotland and Wales with associated river catchment 2023, Water Framework Directive (WFD) waterbody and regional information (WGS84)`_ These catchment boundaries have been derived from hydrological sections, have boundaries almost identical to existing Fish Health Inspectorate river catchments, and include complete coverage of the waterbodies under the Water Framework Directive. Note this dataset only includes catchments in England and Wales. Scotland is represented as a single area. For complete coverage of England, Scotland and Wales use `Catchment boundaries for England, Scotland and Wales based on existing Fish Health Inspectorate (FHI) and SEPA catchments (WGS84) 2023`_ There are 2 versions of the dataset; a geographical coordinate reference system (CRS) WGS84 (EPSG 4326) and a projected CRS British National Grid (BNG - EPSG 27700) see `Catchment boundaries for England and Wales based on existing Fish Health Inspectorate (FHI) catchments 2023 - British National Grid (BNG)`_ .. _`hydrological sections for england, scotland and wales with associated river catchment 2023, water framework directive (wfd) waterbody and regional information (wgs84)`: https://data.cefas.co.uk/view/21968 .. _`catchment boundaries for england, scotland and wales based on existing fish health inspectorate (fhi) and sepa catchments (wgs84) 2023`: https://data.cefas.co.uk/view/21749 .. _`catchment boundaries for england and wales based on existing fish health inspectorate (fhi) catchments 2023 - british national grid (bng)`: https://data.cefas.co.uk/view/21966

The polygons in this dataset have been derived by dissolving the sections according to the "**Catchment_****" **field in the **Hydrological sections for England, Scotland and Wales with associated river catchment and regional information **spatial data layer. The polygons contain 3 data fields: - **Catchment_ **- - this is a 4 digit index number for the catchment present as a padded string. This is compatible with the existing FHI catchment codes. - **Catchmen_1**- ** - **- this is the name of the catchment - **Count_S_ID**- - this is a count of the number of sections in the catchment
