Data supplied by The Crown Estate Round one was launched by The Crown Estate (TCE) in December 2000, intended as a demonstration round, enabling developers to gain technological, economic and environmental expertise. TCE limited the area of seabed to be developed to 10km2, a maximum of 30 turbines to generate a minimum installed capacity of 20MW. The round one locations were put forward by potential developers on the basis of a range of relevant factors including water depth, wind resource and grid connections. As a result all proposed Round one sites are in water depths of less than 20 metres and no further than 12km offshore.
