Results of planktonic foraminifera biostratigraphy at Site U1559A (NERC Grant NE/W00478X/1)
Results of shore-based micropaleontological analysis, summarizing planktonic foraminifera biostratigraphy at Site U1559A. IODP Hole U1559A located in the central South Atlantic (30°15.6335′S, 15°2.0942′W). Collected data allowed to identify slumped interval of older material present within much younger upper part of the local sedimentary sequence.

Analyzed material came from core catcher samples recovered during the IODP Expedition 390C at Hole U1559A (central part of the South Atlantic). Sediments were washed over fine sieve (63 µm mesh aperture size) and dry residues were studied under light microscope to perform biostratigraphic analysis of fossil planktic foraminifera and produce preliminary age-depth model.
