Conservation_Areas
In the United Kingdom, the term Conservation Area nearly always applies to an area (usually urban or the core of a village) considered worthy of preservation or enhancement because of its special architectural or historic interest. The current legislation (created 23rd June 2014) in England and Wales, the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 (Section 69 and 70), defines the quality of a Conservation Area as being: "the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance".

Created over the last 20 years the dataset has evolved and been corrected for Positional Accuracy Improvement. As part of our ongoing commitment to data quality, Ordnance Survey completed a national positional accuracy improvement (PAI) programme in 2006. This programme was developed to enable us to capture data at 1:2500 scale to a greater absolute accuracy (absolute accuracy is the position of features in relation to the Ordnance Survey National Grid).
