This grid dataset was first published in the Soil Geochemical Atlas of Northern Ireland (Dec. 2000) as a paper map. The Atlas was published as one of a number of outputs from the Soil Survey by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD). The AFBI Soil Geochemical map of EDTA extractable nickel for Northern Ireland is a 1km grid map, interpolated (using kriging) from over 1000 topsoil samples. Sampling of the soil and laboratory analysis followed rigorous quality control procedures outlined in Jordan et al 2000.
