Sampling of the macro-infauna of St Martin's Flats, Isles of Scilly. Conducted on 2nd to 3rd August 2000. Three distinct biotopes identified between mean high water and ELWS through discussion with English Nature staff. Sites selected for each of three biotopes ("Ensis", "Arenicola", and "Lanice/Echinocardium"). Within each site, 10 replicate core samples, randomly distributed throughout the extent of the site, were collected. For each sample, a 0.1m2 stainless steel square corer was pushed into the sediment to a depth of 30cm. The sediment was then sieved over a 1mm mesh.
