2007 Sea-Scope, Lundy. Survey of Leptopsammia pruvoti populations
This report details the findings of a survey of the sunset cup coral Leptopsammia pruvoti population at Lundy. Fieldwork was carried out by a 5-man dive team over three days from 4th to 6th September 2007. Data for this report was gathered using a 5-man team of divers to dive at each site over a three day period. All diving operations were carried out under Health and Safety Diving at Work Regulations 1997, using the Scientific and Archaeological Diving Projects Approved Code Of Practice (ACOP). Divers took overlapping photographs of the biotopes in order to be analysed for corals in the laboratory. All the site locations were recorded on GPS using the equipment on the boat. For the accompanying in situ counts of Leptopsammia pruvoti, the divers were also asked to check each coral for colonisation by the epizootic barnacle Boscia anglica and by the horseshoe worm Phoronis hippocrepia, thereby contributing towards an assessment of their condition.
