Bird Vocalisation Activity (BiVA) database: annotated soundscapes from the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone
Data comprise audio files captured using a Wildlife Acoustics SM3 Songmeter located on an overgrown unpaved road close to several abandoned houses with deciduous trees (including fruit trees in former gardens) in the abandoned village of Buryakovka in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, Ukraine. A single continuous recording of twelve hours of audio from midday until midnight on the 25th June 2015 was manually annotated by an expert (using Raven Pro interactive sound analysis software). The dataset comprises the resultant five wave files (stereo .wav sampled at 48 kHz) and five annotation files (text files with the same name as the associated wave file). Audio was captured from the abandoned village of Buryakovka in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, Ukraine; 51,382269, 29,924879 (WGS84). A single Wildlife Acoustics SM3 Songmeter was located on an overgrown unpaved road close to several abandoned houses with deciduous trees (including fruit trees in former gardens). A single continuous recording of 12 hours of audio was made using the SM3's built-in microphones on 25/06/2015 from midday until midnight. The audio was manually annotated by a single expert using Raven Pro. Files are stereo, wav files sampled at 48 kHz. Five wav files are included and tags are stored in five text files with the same name as the associated wave file. Annotations are only made on channel one.
