2023 University of Plymouth Ropes to Reefs Project Benthic Survey Lyme Bay Mussel Farm Towed Underwater Video System
Marine epibenthic and habitat data quantified in July 2023 in an offshore mussel farm in Lyme Bay using a towed underwater video system (TUVS). At each survey site/station a 200 x 0.5 metre transect was taken. Sites/stations are control sites (open to towed demersal fishing gear) based on previous survey experience in the area. Data will be used to help assess the ecological impact of the mussel farm by comparing benthic species diversity and abundance to nearby control sites, with the aim to inform the future management and implementation of aquaculture installations.
