HES LiDAR 2016 and 2017 Project: Data procured from Fugro (non-commercial government licence)
This LiDAR data was captured by Fugro and procured by Historic Environment Scotland (HES) as part of the Rae Project, the 3D Digital Documentation of HES’ Properties in Care and for other HES projects. The LiDAR data was captured in 2016 and 2017 of the sites and their immediate landscape and processed in *. ascii format to 0.25m resolution for the following sites: • Chesters Hill Fort. • Dere Street Roman Road – North and South • Blackness Castle. • Kinneil House. • Linlithgow Palace, Peel and Park. • Antonine Wall – Rough Castle (Antonine Wall 2017 epoch*). • Antonine Wall – Watling Lodge West (Antonine Wall 2017 epoch*). • Caerlaverock Castle. • Dundonald Castle. • Lochmaben Castle. • Threave Castle. Data was supplied in *.las format and 0.25m *.ascii format as DTM (Terrain) and DSM (Surface) data and is distributed here as *.LAZ and GeoTiff Each site or data area is included in an attributed GIS shapefile depicting the area of each respective area of data capture Tiles contain only data that was relevant to HES Projects at the time of procurement.

The LiDAR dataset was originally acquired by Fugro for Historic Environment Scotland in 2017. The data was collected and processed using OSGM15 geoid model, OSTN15 horizontal transformation and the Newlyn datum in the following formats: • *.las format • 25 points per metre, 0.25m point density *.ascii format Digital Terrain Model (DTM) • 25 points per metre, 0.25m point density *.ascii format Surface Model (DSM) Data was compressed to 0.25m point density LAZ for DTM and DSM and also converted to GeoTiff, both formats were supplied to the Scottish Government Remote Sensing Portal for distribution For INSPIRE compliance the quality scope is the entire dataset as listed in this metadata form.
