Two transects of approximately 40m were laid from the Upper to the Lower shore. 10 quadrats were placed randomly up to 5 metres on either side of the transect (20 in total at each level on the shore). Empty quadrats were noted. When present in quadrats, C.gigas were counted and their length and width of shell were measured. The transect ran from the Upper to the Lower shore. At three distinct heights, representing the higher, middle and lower shore, 10 quadrats were placed randomly up to 5 metres on either side of the transect (20 in total at each level on the shore). These heights were chosen based on known segregating signs such as species distibution in the area.
