Bureau de Recherches Geologiques et Minieres (BRGM) Geophysical and Sampling Survey 1972/2: English Channel (18/May/1972 to 12/Jun/1972)
This marine geophysical and sampling survey undertaken as part of the GEOMANCHE Project to examine the geological structure of the Western English Channel (Manche) by Bureau De Recherches Geologiques et Minieres (BRGM,ORLEANS). It was called GEOMANCHE 72 and took place in May to June 1972 in the Western English Channel on board the M.V. Le Noroit. This was a joint French-British investigation of the western part of the Channel between the channel Islands and Start Point to produce a joint geological map of the central part of the western Channel. Data were gathered to evaluate the geological structure of the Western English Channel. Subsurface seismic data were gathered using a sparker. Seabed samples and cores were collected using a rock corer. These data are assumed to be archived by BRGM.
