There were occasional Sabella pavonina in the sediment. There was no accumulation of Asterias rubens or Mytilus edulis under the cage. Some features but little working. The mud was soft and a hand could be inserted. There was an algal turf developing on the surface with some Chorda filum attached. The large boulder piles were covered with dense Laminaria saccharina drooping onto the sediment patches. Ascidiella aspersa was abundant on the Laminaria holdfasts and stipes/fronds and Obelia genticulata was frequent. Beggiatoa was present on rotting algae. Covered by pebbles and cobbles over large patches. Some silty, moribund kelp. Lanice conchilega was abundant. Some workings and tubes/burrows with Sabella pavonina present and many crab spp.. Encrusting and filamentous red algae were found on the cobbles and pebbles, with common Ceramium rubrum and Gracilaria verrucosa and frequent Lithothamnion spp., Phyllophora crispa and Bonnemaisonia asparagoides.
