The dominant algae was Fucus ceranoides with the only other algal species present in any numbers being Enteromorpha. Ragworm Hediste diversicolor were abundant under the stones on which the sole colonizers were occasional Elminius modestus. In deep shade Audouinella was abundant particulary on lower tidal areas whereas Bostrychia and Catenella were frequent on the upper shore. A band of Fucus vesiculosus was scattered at mid tidal heights and Fucus ceranoides was common particulary on the walls under the span.
