This spatial dataset contains the digital boundaries of Marine Conservation Zones (MCZs) former Marine Nature Reserves in Wales.
MCZs are a way of conserving marine habitats and wildlife and other features, of special importance, along the shore or on the seabed. The Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 allows for the creation of MCZs. MCZs protect a range of nationally important marine wildlife, habitats, geology and geomorphology, and can be designated anywhere in English and Welsh territorial and UK offshore water.
