This dataset contains P-to-S converted seismic receiver functions from stations across Africa. Receiver functions are P-to-s filtered at frequencies to observe discontinuities in the mantle transition zone. Receiver functions have been used to look at topography on the mantle discontinuities and scatterers in the mid-mantle: Boyce, Alistair, and Sanne Cottaar. This relies heavily on the ObsPy library https://docs.obspy.org The receiver functions are stored in separate folder for P- receiver functions, PKP- receiver functions, and PP-receiver functions. Subfolders represent different stations, and are named by #networkID.#stationID. Some folders are empty as none of the receiver functions pass quality control. Initial processing includes the data download, data rotation, filtering and windowing, and iterative deconvolution in the time domain. Different versions are created at different frequency bands as defined in the README file. Automatic Quality Control is applied, based on signal-to-noise ratios, receiver function recovery measures, and peak amplitudes in the receiver function (outside of the main P peak). We provide various time-to-depth conversions for the data. Details on how these are stored are provided in the readme.
