Hydrological data is available from around 7,000 stations across England. This includes river flow, river level, groundwater and rainfall. Data consists of high resolution data (mainly 15 min) as well as daily data.
All the data is EA owned and available as open data.
The data comes from both our internal archive (WISKI) as well as real-time updates from telemetry:
River flow (m3s-1):
A) real time: updates from telemetry for stations in Wessex and Devon and Cornwall.
B) daily: updates of daily mean values from WISKI
C) monthly: updates of 15 min data, day max and day min from WISKI
River level (m):
A) real time: updates from telemetry.
B) monthly: updates of 15 min data, day max and day min from WISKI
Rainfall (mm):
A) real time: updates from telemetry.
B) daily: updates of daily totals values from WISKI
C) monthly: updates of 15 min data from WISKI
Groundwater (mAOD):
A) real time: updates from telemetry for some stations
B) weekly: updates of dipped data from WISKI
C) monthly: updates of high-resolution data from WISKI
Note that data is recorded in GMT and therefore during British Summer Time (BST) data may appear to be an hour old. Data comes from a network of stations across England and is subject to quality control procedures. As a result values on this website are subject to change after publication.
