Selected data sets about children in need and care based on two official statistical returns by the Department for Education that are published annually. The first is called "Statistics: children in need and child protection". The second is called "Statistics: looked-after children". These data sets can be interrogated through a range of tools including the DFE Local authority information tool, a new experimental DFE tool to support a range of data sets relating to children, and the Children's Commissioner benchmarking tool called CHLDRN.
