Summary

This data relates to the second revision of Shoreline Management Plans for North West England and North Wales produced by Halcrow Group Ltd. (2010) A Shoreline Management Plan provides a large scale assessment of the risks associated with erosion and flooding at the coast. It also presents policies to help manage these risks to peopl and to the developed, historic and natural environment in a sustainable way. SMP's form an important part of DEFRA' and the Welsh Assembly's strategy for managing risks due to flooding and coastal erosion. (2006). SMP's are reviewed approximately every 10 years, and revised where necessary.
