A polygon layer depicting the 1km squares within NI that contain one or more confirmed reports of pollution between 2011 and 2024.
The purpose of the dataset is to assist with information searches on the NIEA Water Information Request viewer
The layer is the product of a spatial join between the pollution incidents point layer (Pollution Incidents 2011 to 2024) and the NI 1km grid layer, which anonymises the data.
The pollution incidents occur in and around NI watercourses 2011 - 2024.
The attribute table contains information regarding pollution source, pollution category, pollution severity and year.
The data was provided by WMU Emergency Pollution team, and taken from Pollution Incident Management System (PIMS) database.
This dataset was compiled as part of the annual update of pollution incidents for the NIEA Water Information Request Viewer. It combines all previous versions of pollution incident datasets on the viewer.
