Air quality
Use GOV.UK’s check air quality service to check the air quality in an area of the UK. Enter a postcode to find an area and view predicted air pollution levels for the next 5 days. You can also view the levels of air pollutants that are monitored nearby, with readings measured every hour. The page for an area includes information on how to reduce your exposure to air pollution, and how air pollutants can affect your health.
To view and download air pollution data, use the Automatic Urban and Rural Network (AURN) service created by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). Find a monitoring station by entering a town or postcode. Each monitoring site has data for each year since 2018 on air pollution levels, including hourly data and daily and annual averages. Download datasets for each pollutant or all pollutants as CSV files. You can also create a custom dataset by selecting the type(s) of pollutants, a date range and an area.
Mean number of days per urban site when air pollution was ‘Moderate’ or higher in the UK, 2010 to 2024
