Deterioration since last year but Knostrop remains under challenge (due to trade discharge) with EA awaiting outcome of enforcement.
Two other trade related issues at Leeming Bar and Williamthorpe.
Leeming Bar was associated with an increase in trade discharges across the food retail park, conversations with the EA confirmed that they would not accept a challenge at the site due to it's known history and vulnerability to trade discharges.
Williamthorpe suffered a Non Sans failure - there is a single trader within the catchment who discharge metals but we did not have a sample from them to prove they were the cause, and the EA rejected the challenge on this basis.
Two small works (Goathland and Hatfield Woodhouse) failed on lookup table - one site due to different causes for each of the 3 exceedances, one site had a common cause for two exceedances but a very short time gap between sample events.
Final failing works at North Ferriby. Both duty and standby blowers on SAF plant failed in quick succession, with reduction in treatment for a short periopd which coincided with the sample being taken.
We remain below the upper S&R limit and with a different outcome on 2 trade impacted sites we would be at the same or better performance than last year.
Our Industrial Waste team has had an increase in sampling staff and a further review is in place to review if additional officers are required. |

This measure has improved again, continuing the trend of improvcment across the AMP period.
We have continued to invest an increased amount of MEICA CAPEX to enable assets to be replaced or significantly refurbished rather than just repaired where it makes sense to do so.
We moved to a position at the start of the year where we stated that all repairs would be completed (the previous approach based completion on business risk) - we anticipated that this might lead to a minor increase in work raised but this did not occur. |
