Summary

A small survey of four sites designed and carried out by the Environment Agency (Anglian Region, contact: Colin Warrall). The sites were in the intertidal mud of the Deben Estuary (Suffolk) and five replicate core samples were taken from each site for macrobenthos analysis, sieved at 0.5mm. The survey was designed to assess the importance of the area for feeding wading birds. The sample analysis was carried out by Unicomarine Ltd. (contact: Tim Worsfold) and a high abundance but low diversity of macroinvertebrates was found.
