Max and Siân Carstairs Ecological Consultants were commissioned by The Solway Firth Partnership (SFP) to undertake seagrass surveys across the Solway Firth and Loch Ryan in Dumfries and Galloway. Surveys were undertaken during 2022 and 2023 focussing on species of the genus Zostera. The aim of the study was to assess seagrass distribution and health at locations known historically to contain seagrass beds in Loch Ryan and along the northern shores of the Solway Firth. Incidental observations were made on a variety of factors governing seagrass population dynamics.
