Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This dataset has been retired and superseded by the following record: https://environment.data.gov.uk/dataset/d8421893-ff04-492c-8d29-caa89f17397e. This dataset is a subset of "WFD Classification Status Cycle 2" and contains classification data for Total Phosphorus in lakes. Total Phosphorus is one of the physicochemical elements used, along with other physicochemical and biological quality elements, to determine the ecological status of a lake. The concentration and bioavailability of phosphorus influences freshwater ecology by driving the plant composition and biomass. Total phosphorus results are run through the calculator classification tool. The actual (observed) total phosphorus concentrations are compared with reference boundary phosphorus concentrations to derive a total phosphorus classification (High, Good, Moderate, Poor, Bad) for the water body for Water Framework Directive (WFD) purposes.
