This is only a portion of the maerl in Scotland but there is no information to provide a more robust idea of the total extent and localition of maerl in Scotland. Data on the comparative extent of live and dead maerl in Scotland is not available. A large caveat should be assigned to this feature as we currently have little information regarding the size and condition of beds within Scottish waters and only data within protected sites has been included within this assessment.
