Summary

This BIRPS deep profile study took place in August 1985 and this short line was recorded to 30 seconds twt parallel to MOIST in order to trace the Flannen Fault deeper into the upper mantle. It was traced as a nearly continuous bright reflector to 28secs twt, that is after migration, 50km below the Moho. At the time of shooting DRUM was the world's deepest penetration seismic reflection profile. BIRPS was able to contour the Flannan and Outer Isles faults, using its own data and deeplines given by industry. These data are archived by BGS.
