Summary

GeoTiff datasets of average coefficient of light attenuation for photosynthetically active radiation (KPAR) in the Greater North Sea and Celtic Seas. The dataset kPAR2005_ 2009_250.tif contains the average annual KPAR calculated over the years 2005-2009. All other datasets are monthly averages (for 2005-2009), Numbers in the GeoTiff names inficate the montha, e.g. the dataset kpar_month_01_250.tif contains monthly averages for the month of January, kpar_month_02_250.tif is for the month of February and so on. Raster cell size 250m. Values are dimensionless and fall between 0 and 1, with 0 being no attenuation (clear water) and 1 being full light attenuation (very turbid). Data was collected by the MERIS satellite.
