Summary

Areas of Archaeological Potential are areas within the historic cores of towns and villages, where it is probable that archaeological remains will be encountered, created by the Cheshire Historic Towns Survey. This project produced a component based summary of the archaeology and a strategy for its protection for thirty-seven towns located within the Ceremonial County of Cheshire. Where possible this included the definition of an Area of Archaeological Potential. Copies of the assessment and strategy reports for each town are available via the Cheshire Archaeology web site: http://www.cheshirearchaeology.org.uk/?page_id=173.
