Summary

The dataset sets out areas of identified tidal stream resource that could be harnessed in the future for power generation and as such are protected by policy TIDE1 in the East Inshore and East Offshore marine plans. The areas have been identified using the same parameters that defined The Crown Estates Wave and Tidal Key Resource Areas work but are limited to the East inshore and East offshore marine plan areas. The MMO used UKHO bathymetry data filtered to sites of 5m depth and over and the Atlas of UK Renewable Energy Resource with mean spring peak current fitlered to over 1.5metres per second.
