This dataset comprises of atmospheric aerosol, rainwater, seawater and soil data for soluble major ions, and soluble and total trace elements. Data were collected from land-based stations on Carcass Island, Falkland Islands (2010/11 and 2011/12), and Tudor Hill, Bermuda (samples to be confirmed), as well as on sea-going research cruises, M121 (2015), PS132 (2022), and DY157 (2023). Analyses were conducted using ion chromatography, Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES), depending on the element of interest. The data were collected to quantify the inputs of dust and its associated micronutrients to the ocean, and produce dust-flux maps, improving understanding of how bio-limiting elements such as iron (Fe) are made available in the open ocean. The analyses are still ongoing and therefore are not currently all made available. These data were collected and/or analysed by the University of East Anglia under the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Discovery Science project, Atmospheric fluxes of mineral dust-derived soluble trace elements to the ocean using thorium isotopes (ThorMap) (grant reference NE/V001213/1).
