Summary

Local Planning Authorities are required to prepare and maintain registers of previously developed (or brownfield) land. The sites on the register are considered to be suitable, available and achievable for residential development in line with the criteria set out in The Town and Country Planning (Brownfield Land Register) Regulations 2017. The definition of previously developed land is set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.
