Freshwater macroinvertebrates are used as an indicator of water quality and Lake flow requirements due to the relative immobility and abundance.
This dataset contains site, sample, metric and taxa information from freshwater Lake macroinvertebrate surveys carried out across Wales by Natural Resources Wales and former Environment Agency Wales since 1997 and onwards. These surveys are conducted as part of on-going monitoring of Lake water quality for legislative requirements and to meet business needs.
