Summary

This register lists higher education providers, which have particular relationships to Government (or bodies related to Government) in England. It sets out the powers they have, and the regulatory controls which apply to them. The register draws together information held by a number of organisations about the regulatory status of higher education providers. It helps to clarify how this information is related, and what each provider is required to do. The register includes all higher education providers which are regulated in England because they:

  1. Receive direct public grants for HE
  2. Have courses which have been specifically designated by Government as eligible for the purposes of English
  3. Student support funding
  4. Are higher education institutions (HEIs)
  5. And / or have the right to award one or more types of UK degree.
