These and cobbles and pebbles lying on top of a mixed silty shell gravel supported commmonly occurring Dendrodoa sp. with patchy occurrence of Alcyomidium sp. Various tubeworms, bryozoan crusts and several other bryozoans and a few other tunicate species contributed to the bulk of the fauna.

The larger cobbles were stable enough to support a relatively rich fauna and sparse seaweeds whilst the gravel appreared to be very poorly colonised with only frequent Lanice sp. visible on the surface (stones relatively unstable). The cobbles had often quite dense Dendrodoa sp, frequent Alcyonidium sp. and Sertularia argentea/cupressina ( relatively few were long cupressina form). The only species in any abundance were Polycarpa sp., mostly Polycarpa scuba.

Crepidula sp. chains attached to larger pebbles whilst the cobbles had clumps of Flustra sp. and frequent colonies of Sertularia argentea and Hydrallmania sp., individual Sabellaria sp. tubes reasonably frequent, as were ascidians, particularly Styela clava. Not particularly rich with not much in the gravel and the rocks too small for much colonisation.

Boulders with a mixed fauna, mostly of sponges and a reasonably dense red algal turf, all quite silty. Sabellaria tubes, single but reasonably common. Undersides of boulders predominantly covered by bryozoan crusts with occasional terebellids, a Polycarpa? sp. and a few spirorbids (not very diverse). Microciona ?strepsitoxa & M. spinarcus identified by NMS 1998.
